Programs Services - Settlement Services
For immigrants, whether recently arrived or long established in our city, assistance is essential for their process of settlement and adaptation to the socio-economic and cultural environment. COSTI offers support throughout various stages of this process - from newcomers arriving here to those who have settled but continue requiring access to social and government services.
We provide a comprehensive suite of services that include:
Referral Assistance: We link individuals to essential community resources like banks, shops, housing options, health facilities, cultural events, educational opportunities, recreational activities, and legal services.
Information Orientation: Clients receive guidance on practical matters such as banking transactions, tax obligations, childcare arrangements, school registration procedures, shopping tips, budget management, cooking basics, safety precautions, police department guidelines, Canadian values, landlord-tenant responsibilities, and more.
Documentation Support: Our Settlement Counselors help clients complete official government documents including Permanent Residence Cards, Work Permits, OHIP applications, Citizenship applications, sponsorship forms, Child Tax Benefits clms, and other related paperwork.
Interpretation Services: We offer translation support to help newcomers navigate their dly lives.
Counseling Guidance: For those facing difficulties adjusting to life in Canada, our Settlement Counselors identify avlable specialized services within the community that can d them.
Employment-related guidance is also provided by counselors who connect clients with resources for tradeprofessional certification or academic credential recognition.
Our staff based at the North York Centre location fluently communicates in Arabic, Farsi, Albanian, Vietnamese, Spanish, Italian, Dari, and French.
We ext Settlement Services support specifically to Spanish-speaking individuals off-site at Manantial Neighbourhood Services located at 7611 Pine Valley Drive, Building A in Woodbridge. To arrange an appointment, please contact Sara Vasquez at 905.761.1155 Ext. 0032.
Eligibility:
This service is avlable to Permanent Residents of Canada, landed immigrants, convention refugees, Minister’s Permit holders, or individuals whose refugee clms have been approved by Citizenship Immigration Canada.
While primarily med at newcomers, other eligible immigrants who require assistance in adapting to Canadian society and integrating into their community may also be eligible regardless of the duration they've been residing here.
